Carling
The history of the Carling brewing company is long and diverse. In 1989 Carling O'Keefe was merged into Molson Breweries of Canada, and now Molsons Coors brews the few remaining brands.
Carling Black Label (or simply Carling as the name was changed in 2000) has been in production since 1818, making it one of the oldest constantly available beers in Canada when Thomas Carling made his brew available at "Stumping Bees" - a cooperative effort between local farmers to clear land of tree stumps and make it suitable for farming. As the word of the quality of his home brewed ale grew, Thomas began to brew it for other "Stumping Bees" as well, and eventually, Thomas gave up farming, and focused entirely on his beer making. The Carling Brewing Company officially opened it's doors in 1840.
